SAFE AND SOUND PROTOCOL (SSP)
Are you struggling with anxiety, sleep issues, fatigue, depression? Do you feel disconnected or unsafe?
I am introducing a pioneering approach to my practice, called the Safe and Sound Protocol. New research has shown that symptoms such as anxiety and sleep issues are rooted in a challenged nervous system that is working too hard to adapt to the demands placed on it. The good news is that SSP can enhance your brain’s ability to return to a felt sense of safety, ease and connection even in the midst of life’s challenges.Suitable for children and adults, the SSP has demonstrated benefits for individuals with trauma, anxiety, sensory processing differences and more.
SSP is designed to calm your nervous system and renew your health through a process of listening to filtered music through headphones. It is a way of retuning the nervous system through sensory stimulation of the nerves in the middle ear. As your SSP Provider, I will you accompany you in person or on zoom in short sessions, totaling 5 hours. I can also integrate the listening into our body-based coaching sessions through both movement and tablework.
SSP is an evidence-based therapy that is grounded in the Polyvagal Theory, (PVT) developed by Stephen Porges, a world-renowned researcher. The PVT has transformed how therapists, bodyworkers, somatic educators and even fitness programs improve clients’ health through the regulation of the nervous system. PVT gives us a scientific framework that can be applied through physiological, or “bottom-up” therapies, to help change and improve how we feel, think and connect with others.
